Earlier set for a release on Diwali 2025, media reports suggest that the Anurag Basu’s, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, untitled project‘s release date has been postponed early 2026. As reported by the Free Press Journal, there is chatter that the filmmaker might be thinking of pushing the film’s release date to avoid comparisons with the recently released film Saiyaara. Directed by Mohit Suri, the romantic musical stars debutant Ahaan Panday and actress Aneet Padda.
The media publication stated that the Metro… In Dino filmmaker has decided to rework certain scenes in his upcoming film to steer clear from comparisons with Saiyaara, since both of them are tragic romances. Amidst all the speculations, Basu has now issued a clarification on the same. Dismissing the claims that Saiyaara is not the reason behind Kartik’s movie getting postponed, he went on to reveal that he was aware of the film’s script for a long time now.

Talking to India Today, the Free Press Journal quoted the 55-year-old filmmaker saying, “Given that both films feature performers as lead characters, comparisons were expected. But the two stories are entirely different.” He went on to reveal that the real reason behind the delay was the 34-year-old actor’s commitment towards the shooting of Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri as well as the ongoing promotional activities of his film Metro…In Dino. “We’ll resume shooting soon and are aiming to wrap it up at the earliest,” he concluded.
Said to be an unofficial adaptation of the South Korean film A Moment To Remember (2004), Saiyaara is a tale of love, heartbreak, and pain, featuring Ahaan Panday as a rising musician Krish Kapoor and Aneet Padda as an innocent lyricist Vaani Batra. Released on July 18, 2025, the film is directed by Mohit Suri. Co-starring Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola, Shaad Randhawa, and others, the film is produced by YRF.

For those who don’t know, the Kartik and Sreeleela starrer was tentatively titled Aashiqui 3. However, due to some disputes and issues, the makers have yet to officially announce the title of the film. In the announcement teaser of the film, his character was seen singing Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, from Aashiqui, in a rugged musician look, while remembering sweet and romantic moments between his and Sreeleela’s characters.
