This year, Aimee stepped onto the red carpet for the third time. She did so by wearing a traditional outfit. She explained the significance of her attire by writing on her Instagram, ”While stepping onto the iconic red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the third time, I did so once again while firmly embracing my identity and self-respect as a proud Assamese,”
”Representing our heritage, I was thrilled to walk the ramp in a two-hundred-year-old motif depicted on my Muga filled with intricate traditional designs, Gamkharu on my wrist, Assamese gamosa, Riha, and Kopou Phul (foxtail orchids) in my hairbun. Special thanks to everyone for all your love & support,” Aimee wrote.
Fans could not get over her graceful walk up to the Cannes stairs. One fan commented, ”She is totally giving Shanti Priya vibes ” referring to Deepika Padukone’s character ShantiPriya from Om Shanti Om.

Who is Aimee Baruah?
Aimee Baruah is a National award-winning actor-director and the first Assamese actress to walk down the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. As per reports, she was the jury member of 53rd International Film Festival of India. She started her career at the age of 14 and went on to act in twenty-nine feature-length films.
Apart from her impressive filmography, Aimee Baruah shines in academics as well. As per reports, she has a master’s degree in sociology and is a gold medallist in economics. Impressively, she is pursuing PhD from Gauhati University.
