After a series of box-office setbacks, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor recently made a strong comeback with Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. In the film, Kapoor plays the character “Danger Lanka,” and while the movie received mixed reviews, Kapoor’s performance earned special recognition. However, the actor revealed in a candid interview that his journey to this role wasn’t easy.
Reflecting on the challenging period in his life, Kapoor shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “When I signed this film, I was going through the worst phase of my life, personally, professionally, emotionally, mentally, and physically.” Despite his struggles, Kapoor committed to the film, motivated by Shetty’s request to maintain his character’s look until his scenes could be scheduled. He took this as a personal challenge, saying, “I just took that as a stepping stone towards my own personal development as well.”
This marked the only film he had signed during that time, prompting a shift in his approach to life and career. He adopted a “less is more” philosophy, realizing that taking on fewer but meaningful projects allowed him to prioritize quality and introspection over quantity. Kapoor explained, “It turned out to be a pretty introspective time for me where I realized less is more for me today going forward.”
Despite his passion for cinema, Kapoor admitted he was struggling to reconnect with it. “Arguably, I have shot the most entertaining commercial film of my life, the biggest film of my life while not really being in love with cinema,” he said, describing this as a “paradox” for someone who grew up immersed in the industry.
The journey wasn’t easy, as he dealt with self-doubt and fear of rejection. “I used to wonder sometimes, ‘What’s the point of it all? Is it really going to pan out? Am I going to be in love with cinema again? Are people really going to care about me again?’” he shared. This period of uncertainty led him to seek therapy, helping him process his emotions and regain focus.
With the positive reception to his role in Singham Again, Kapoor took to Instagram to thank his fans and critics alike, writing, “Here’s to turning non-believers into believers! Every question & doubt only fueled my determination to work harder and come back stronger.” This heartfelt message not only reflects Kapoor’s gratitude but also his renewed determination to continue his journey in Bollywood, even when the path forward wasn’t always clear.
