OpenAI announced the Search rival recently and now it is opening up the platform to all the users, even those who haven’t signed up.

ChatGPT Search is now available to all users who have an account on the company’s website and mobile apps, OpenAI announced at an event this week. Additionally, the company asserted the feature was enhanced and refined. Previously, only subscribers who paid for access could use it. With the latest deployment, users can now access the feature regardless of their subscription status as long as they are connected to their ChatGPT accounts.
In November 2024, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Search and said during the launch that it would keep improving the search engine, add its Advanced Voice Mode, and make it accessible to people who aren’t logged in. In keeping with its promises, OpenAI has fulfilled both.
In addition to the launch, OpenAI released a mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT Search that is tailored to deliver a seamless and effective search experience on tablets and smartphones. Furthermore, the feature now has an enhanced voice search option that adds a hands-free element to the search process by enabling users to ask queries and receive responses using voice commands.
Intending to revolutionise the search experience by providing an AI-powered substitute for conventional search engines, OpenAI hopes to establish itself as a strong rival to Google and other well-known firms in the market. The use of cutting-edge natural language processing algorithms is expected to improve search results’ precision and relevancy, making ChatGPT Search a desirable choice for users seeking more than a list of links.
Another related development is that OpenAI has added real-time screen sharing and video to their ChatGPT AI chatbot’s Advanced Voice Mode. It was at the same event that the company showcased this new feature. Users can now ask ChatGPT for comments on a variety of tasks, including resolving challenging maths problems, by sharing their screens with the program. To start a video, users simply click the video icon located in the bottom left of the ChatGPT chat window. To share your screen, just tap the three-dot menu to bring up the “Share Screen” option.
The first indication of this feature came in May when GPT-4 demonstrated its ability to watch and explain game actions using a conversational perspective. However, OpenAI first believed that the vision capability was not yet ready for production, which caused multiple delays in its full rollout.
Users of ChatGPT Teams, Plus, and Pro can now access the new feature on iOS and Android mobile apps. In January, ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu subscribers will be able to access it. It’s important to know that some EU countries will not have access to the sophisticated voice mode.
