The sudden tragic passing of Matthew Perry last year on 28 October was a shock to his fans around the world. The Friends star was loved by all ever since he portrayed Chandler Bing in the globally popular sitcom Friends.
On Friends, Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing shared one of the most memorable TV romances of all time with the character Monica Geller, who was played by Courtney Cox. When the news of Perry’s passing broke, fans around the world were eager to hear Courtney Cox and other stars of the show – Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc – to talk about their friend and co-star.
Now, after over six months of Matthew Perry’s sudden death, Courtney Cox has spoken about her late co-star once again during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning. The actress talked about how she ‘feels’ Matther Perry’s presence around her even after his death.
Cox said, “I think he’s probably one of the funniest human beings in the world. You know, he’s just so funny. He genuinely has a huge heart, and obviously struggled. I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years. He visits me a lot, if we believe in that… I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew – I feel like there are a lotta people that are, I think, that guide us. I do sense, yeah, I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”
She then continued, “I’m just grateful I had that opportunity to work with such wonderful people, and to live the life that I have now. That was my family. I mean, we went through everything. Those ten years were everything – they’re my family.”
A month and a half after Matthew Perry’s death, the cause was revealed to be acute effects of ketamine. Perry had struggled with addiction for a long time, even during his time on Friends, and had been open about discussing the problem for a long time.
