During their recent visit to seek blessings at the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were decked in traditional attire. Netizens couldn’t get enough of the green Banarasi saree, the then pregnant Deepika Padukone wore for the occasion. The saree is reportedly a gift from Anaita Shroff Adajania, a renowned fashion designer. She sourced the elegant sari from the brand Banarasi Baithak. Deepika’s nine yards of graceful drapery were inspired by a Benarasi saree, which is over a hundred years old. The green saree is embedded with boota designs with the tanchui details removed to make it lighter for the then mom-to-be Deepika to carry. As a symbol of ‘ever-after,’ the saree was untouched by scissors. The designer took six months to make this vintage revival piece. With golden work all over the saree, its pallu has tassel detailing.
