Actor Rambir Kapoor is currently busy filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming directorial Love and War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Despite his jam-packed schedule, reports of him starting to shoot Dhoom 4 next April have started surfacing on the internet, leaving fans curious about the development of the project. A new report by India Today confirmed the development and stated that he will be getting a different look for the franchise reboot.
According to the reports, Ranbir will be wrapping up his existing projects including Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan and SLB’s Love and War before starting his preparation for Dhoom 4. The project is expected to go on floors next April. A source close to the development told India Today that the production team is currently in search of two female leads and an antagonist for the film. The source added, “Key contenders to play the antagonist in the film are being considered from the South.”

For those who don’t know, the Dhoom franchise began in 2004 with Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and John Abraham. The Aditya Chopra production set a new benchmark for action films in Bollywood. The franchise continued with Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2 (2006), and Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif in Dhoom 3 (2013). The franchise is all set to grow with the fourth film, which will be working as a reboot.
A News18 report states that the franchise will be rebooted to align with modern sensibilities. Chopra wants to create a cinematic experience like “never before,” which is why he has collaborated with director Vijay Krishna Acharya. Opening up about RK Jr’s involvement in the project, the source added, “The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest in being a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy.”

Apparently, Dhoom 4 will not feature the original cast and two “big heroes from the younger generation” will come on board to take the action franchise forward. Quoting a source News18 added, “Now that the core storyboard is locked, the team will proceed to the casting stage. Dhoom 4 will not just be the biggest Dhoom film, but also a tentpole feature film of global standard from Indian cinema.”
Apart from Dhoom 4, Ranbir Kapoor has Animal’s sequel Animal Park, Ramayan, Love and War, and Brahmastra franchise in his pipeline.
