Punjabi singer-actor, filmmaker Diljit Dosanjh, has been under fire for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir for his recently released film Sardaar Ji 3. While the film wasn’t released in India, following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, it was released internationally as well as in Pakistan. A new report by the Free Press Journal states that despite all the controversies, the film has emerged as the highest-grosser in Pakistan.
Yes, you read that right! The media publication, in its report, mentions that on the first day of its release, Sardaar Ji 3 has made a box office collection of Rs 3 crore, making it the biggest opener for an Indian film in Pakistan. The report adds that the horror-comedy has even beaten Salman Khan’s 2016 film Sultan.

Despite severe backlash and calls for a boycott of the films’ makers, including Diljit, who, apart from starring as the lead, has also co-produced it, the movie is going strong at the neighbouring country’s box office. Apparently, media reports claim that theatres are running housefull shows of Sardaar Ji 3 in Pakistan.
Shedding light on the ongoing controversy, after facing severe backlash by Indian fans, who deemed the musician “insensitive” and “shameless” for working with a Pakistani actress and releasing their film given the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, even Indian film bodies unanimously decided not to ban the film’s release and even stop working with Diljit. They even sent a strongly worded note to the makers of Border 2, co-starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, to replace the actor.
