Actor Sonu Sood’s first movie as a director, Fateh, where he also stars with Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah, opened in theaters on 10 January 2025. The movie started off well, but didn’t do as well on the second day.
Sacnilk reported that Fateh made just Rs. 2 crore on Saturday (the second day), which was Rs. 40 lakh less than what it earned on the first day, when it brought in Rs. 2.4 crore. People usually expect movie earnings to go up on weekends, but that wasn’t the case here. However, Fateh didn’t keep up its pace and saw a small drop in earnings on its second day.
It’s up against strong competition from the Hindi version of Game Changer, with stars Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. Also, the price of tickets might have played a role in the drop. On Friday, tickets for Fateh were just Rs. 99, which probably helped with the opening day sales. But when prices went back to normal on Saturday, fewer people bought tickets, leading to lower earnings.
In Fateh, Sonu Sood is playing the lead role of Fateh Singh, an ex-special ops officer. The plot of Fateh is based on the life of the officer, who lives as a dairy farming supervisor in Punjab until a village girl becomes a victim of a cybercrime syndicate. Fateh Singh then joins hands with Khushi Sharma (played by Fernandez), an ethical hacker, to rescue Nimrit and destroy the cybercrime syndicate. The high-octane action thriller Fateh is bankrolled by Zee Studios and Shakti Sagar Productions.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Jacqueline Fernandez penned a lovely note for Sood, thanking him for giving her the opportunity to play the role of Khushi in Fateh. “Fateh and Khushi!! @sonu_sood thanks for giving me this amazing opportunity to play Khushi! And thank you for being not just a great co-star but also a director with so much patience and passion for the art #Fateh in cinemas today!!” she wrote.
