The annual SCOPE (Summit for Clinical Operations Executives) conference has revealed the six finalists for its 9th Annual Participant Engagement Award. This prestigious award recognizes advancements in patient recruitment for clinical trials, and is presented in honor of Jerry Matczak, who passed away shortly after receiving the inaugural 2017 award.
Finalists for 2025 are as follows:
- AstraZeneca, Evinova, Walgreens Boots Alliance
- Grove AI
- Ichor Life Sciences, Inc., Loretto Hospital
- Harvard University (Pathway)
- SGM Alliance
- Mural Health
From a pool of over 40 submissions, these finalists emerged in recognition of their advancements in increasing access to trials, accelerating enrollment, personalizing recruitment, and emphasizing the need for diverse patient populations.
Submissions were judged by a panel of experts in the clinical research field including Kim Ribeiro, head, diversity and patient inclusion, AbbVie; Stacy Hurt, chief patient officer, Parexel International; and Otis Johnson, PhD, MPA, principal consultant, Trial Equity, who recently moderated Applied Clinical Trials’ first-ever Peer Exchange roundtable on improving diversity in clinical trials.
The winner of the 2025 Participant Engagement Award will be announced during the opening plenary session at SCOPE, taking place February 3-6 in Orlando, Florida.
