Apple AI already has ChatGPT supported and soon Google will bring Gemini through its deal with the iPhone maker.
Google Chief has shared the news about Gemini working through Apple AI in 2025
Google chief Sundar Pichai has confirmed that Apple AI will get Gemini support for iPhones by mid-2025. Pichai was quoted saying this during Google’s antitrust hearing in the US this week. He mentioned that Gemini will most likely become available as a part of the Apple AI ecosystem like ChatGPT giving iPhone users more options before the company gets its own AI working in top shape.
Pichai also mentioned that he has spoken to Apple CEO Tim Cook over the matter since 2024 and hopes to get the deal for this integration done very soon.
Gemini On Apple AI: More Options For Users
Going by his timeline, it is quite possible that Google and Apple form part of an exciting WWDC 2025 lineup where the official news about Gemini coming the Apple AI could be announced. iOS 19 version could see the first major Gemini integration which brings Live, Veo and other AI tools to the Apple ecosystem.
The new iOS 19 update is already being touted as one of Apple’s biggest in years and having Gemini on board will make it further appealing. OpenAI did the same with ChatGPT for iOS/macOS devices that eventually came out with the iOS 18.1 update. But we are hoping this year Apple is able to make Gemini work from day one of the iOS 19 release date.
The Gemini app is already available on iOS but the integration with Apple AI will bring another layer of features for these users.
All said and done, Apple will ensure that people know using Gemini features will allow Google to send data to its servers for external processing. And they can decide if they are happy to do that with their data. Apple AI is slowly coming to terms with the challenge and the company is making wholesale changes to make the AI work eventually.
Siri is already delayed till next year and it seems with ChatGPT available and Gemini coming soon, iPhone users might not be missing much after all.
