The Bhadrapada month, the sixth month of the Hindi calendar, has commenced, marking a significant period in Hinduism. This month, recognised for its array of festivals and cultural events, will continue until September 18.

Janmashtami will feature elaborately decorated floats, while the sound of dandis will fill the air during Ganeshotsav. The community is buzzing with excitement as these cherished festivals approach.
The month will culminate with Bhadrapada Purnima on September 18. Following this, Pitru Paksha will begin, a period dedicated to honouring ancestors through tarpan rituals.
In an interview, Pandit Kamlesh Vyas detailed the upcoming celebrations in Bhadrapada month. He explained that Janmashtami will be observed on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha during this month. Hartalika Teej, which falls on Bhadrapada Shukla Tritiya, is a festival dedicated to ensuring unbroken good fortune through the worship of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Additionally, the 10-day Ganeshotsav in honour of Lord Ganesha will be celebrated during Bhadrapada.
In Bhilwara, Ganesh Chaturthi is particularly grand, and the month also includes observances such as Radha Ashtami, Hal Shashthi, and Rishi Panchami. The month concludes with Bhadrapada Purnima, which signals the start of Pitru Paksha, a time for performing Purnima Shradh in honour of ancestors.
This year, Ganeshotsav is generating exceptional enthusiasm. Ganesh Chaturthi, which starts on September 7, will be marked by fairs at Lord Ganesha temples featuring special worship services. For the next 10 days, celebratory chants of “Ganpati Bappa Moriya” will fill the air as idols of Lord Ganesha are installed in pandals, accompanied by the lively sound of dandis.
Additionally, Krishna Janmashtami will see beautifully decorated tableaus, and Rakhis will be tied on Rishi Panchami, adding to the festive atmosphere.
