Alia Bhatt’s new film Jigra is showing signs of recovery at the box office after a lukewarm opening day. The film debuted on Friday with a modest Rs 4.55 crore, raising concerns about its performance. However, the numbers saw a substantial jump on Saturday, thanks to the Dussehra holiday boost.
According to data from Sacnilk, Jigra earned approximately Rs 6.50 crore on Saturday, marking a 42% increase from its opening day collection. This brings the film’s two-day domestic net total to over Rs 11 crore.
Jigra has a nationwide occupancy rate of 30.10 percent across more than 2800 screenings. Chennai leads in terms of audience turnout, with 79.5 percent occupancy across 28 shows. Bengaluru follows closely, offering 196 shows and an impressive 60.25 percent occupancy rate. Despite having the most shows at 780, Delhi NCR has seen a lower occupancy of 24.75 percent, while Mumbai’s 512 shows have managed a 38 percent turnout.

Interestingly, Jigra is competing with another new release – Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. It has collected slightly more than Rs 12 crore. This film performed slightly better on its opening day, bringing in Rs 5.25 crore compared to Jigra’s Rs 4.55 crore. However, the gap narrowed on Saturday, with the film collecting Rs 6.75 crore and Jigra coming close with Rs 6.50 crore.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has the most screenings in the Delhi NCR region, with 1015 shows, followed by 582 shows in Mumbai. Other key cities include Bengaluru with 178 shows, Ahmedabad with 479, Surat offering 224 shows, Lucknow with 190, and Chandigarh hosting 104 screenings. Read Mashable’s review of the film here.
