42-year-old telly actress Shefali Jariwala, who garnered fame with her iconic single ‘Kaanta Laga,’ passed away, reportedly by heart attack. She was rushed to Mumbai’s Bellevue Multispecialty hospital by her husband, Parag Tiwari, on Friday. However, the hospital source revealed that the actress was declared dead on arrival by the on-duty doctor at 11:15 pm.
There has been no official word on the cause of the former Bigg Boss 13 participant’s demise. Jariwala became an overnight sensation with the release of Kaanta Laga in 2002. A remix of Lata Mangeshkar’s popular song from the 1972 classic ‘Samadhi,’ the cover drew huge backlash and virality at the same time, becoming a chartbuster and prompting copycat remixes.
Amid a downpour of condolences by grieving fraternity and friends, Shefali Zariwala’s last tweet paying tribute to former partner and Bigg Boss 13 contestant Sidharth Shukla has gone viral. In the post dated September 2, 2024, the Shaitani Rasmein (2024) actress quipped, “Thinking of you today, mere dost.” Shefali’s co-contestant at BB13 and Balika Vadhu actor, Sidhart Shukla, died on September 2, 2021 after suffering from a heart attack at the young age of 40.
Shefali Jariwala’s filmography includes Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and the 2011 Kannada flick Hudugaru. She also did a web series in 2018 Baby Come Naa, that streamed on Ekta Kapoor’s AltBalaji. Her breakout fame was the music video DJ Doll’s Kaanta Laga remix in 2002. She reappeared for DJ Doll’s Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar remix in 2004.
Shefali Jariwala married her Nach Baliye co-star Parag Tiwari in 2015.
