It seems Kartik Aaryan’s latest release, Chandu Champion, is struggling to keep pace with Sharvari Wagh’s Munjya at the box office. While Munjya continues its impressive run, Chandu Champion is facing an uphill battle for audience attention.
On its second Friday, Munjya raked in a solid 3.25-3.50 crore nett, pushing its total earnings to a respectable 39 crore nett after just eight days. Meanwhile, Chandu Champion, the first major release post-Eid, is experiencing a lukewarm reception, with a modest turnout in theaters.

According to an official statement from the filmmakers, Chandu Champion garnered Rs 5.4 crore on its opening day. This is significantly lower than Kartik’s previous films—Satyaprem Ki Katha, which opened at Rs 8.25 crore last year, and his post-pandemic blockbuster, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which debuted with a whopping Rs 14.11 crore and eventually grossed Rs 265.5 crore worldwide.

Adding salt to the wound, early trends on Book My Show reveal Munjya is outselling Chandu Champion in real-time ticket sales. At the time of writing, Munjya had sold 10.12k tickets in an hour, compared to Chandu Champion’s 7.92k. It appears the supernatural charm of Munjya is captivating audiences more effectively than the biographical allure of Chandu Champion.
Munjya has emerged as a sleeper hit and is part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe, starring Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and Sathyaraj. In contrast, Chandu Champion is a biopic chronicling the inspiring story of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist.
