Comedian and political satirist Kunal Kamra found himself in trouble earlier this year for his criticisms of Maharashtra’s politicians. While he had the support of the audience, he received flak from Shiv Sena workers of Eknath Shinde faction for roasting Maharashtra’s Deputy CM. The outrage had led to them vandalising The Habitat, where the show had been shot, to the point that the entertainment venue had decided to shut down. Despite it all, he didn’t back down and has now again commented on the recent violent clashes in the Maharashtra Assembly with his iconic song.
For those who don’t know, recently, a violent brawl erupted in the state assembly between supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and NCP (Sharad Pawar group) MLA Jitendra Awhad. The clashes happened on Thursday after a comment made by the latter. Sharing those video snippets on his social media handle, he added his infamous satirical song ‘Hum Honge Kangaal,’ set to the tune of ‘Hum Honge Kamiyaab,’ to it.

Sharing the montage of the brawl, where people are pulling and punching each other, he also added snippets of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde to the video. Posting it on his official Instagram handle with the caption, “*Lawbreakers*,” his song, which had gotten him in trouble in March played in the background.
As soon as the post was made, netizens rushed to the comment section to hail him. One wrote, “Kunal Is Real Legend.” Another wrote, “Bjp ke Gundey!” One said, “Roast Pro Max.” Another wrote, “They mistook it for Habitat?” One commented, “Circus bana rakha hai Maharashtra assembly ko!” Another commented, “NAYA BHARAT.”

Kamra had gotten into trouble for roasting Shinde through a song he wrote, set to the tune of a popular song from Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The song didn’t go down well with many Shiv Sena workers of the Shinde faction, as he had called him a ‘traitor’ for separating from his own party. It is to be noted, that during the set, he had also roasted Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.
Despite backlash from political leaders, Kunal Kamra maintained that he wouldn’t be apologizing for whatever he had said. “I don’t fear this mob & I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down,” a part of his statement read. Addressing the mob that vandalised The Habitat and also the “political leaders” that have threatened to teach him a lesson, the political satirist and comedian slammed Shiv Sena workers and “unelected members of the BMC” for vandalizing an entertainment venue like The Habitat.
