Nagarjuna Akkineni and his family are preparing to take legal action against Telangana politician Konda Surekha over her controversial claims surrounding Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce. On Wednesday, Konda Surekha made shocking allegations, claiming that Telangana minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) interfered in the couple’s relationship, leading to their separation. This statement has prompted a swift and fierce backlash from Nagarjuna, his family, and Samantha, all of whom have dismissed the allegations as baseless.
KTR himself has already issued a legal notice to Konda Surekha, demanding the retraction of her statement. While she has since retracted her claims, sources from CNN News18 have reported that the Akkineni family is in the process of issuing their own legal notice to Surekha. Additionally, a separate notice is being drafted by the Telugu Film Chamber on behalf of the Akkineni family.
Konda Surekha’s allegations included a bizarre claim that KTR had allegedly asked for Samantha to be “sent” to him in exchange for sparing Nagarjuna’s N-Convention Centre from demolition, and when Samantha refused, it led to her divorce from Naga Chaitanya. She further alleged that Nagarjuna had pressured Samantha to comply with KTR’s demand. These remarks, quoted by Deccan Herald, have sparked widespread outrage.
The N-Convention Centre, owned by Nagarjuna, faced partial demolition in August due to alleged encroachment on lake buffer zones. Although Nagarjuna secured a stay order from the High Court, Konda Surekha’s claims about the matter have only added fuel to the controversy.
In response to the accusations, Nagarjuna took to X (formerly Twitter), issuing a firm rebuttal. He wrote, “I strongly condemn the comments of the Honorable Minister Mrs. Konda Surekha. Don’t use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents. Please respect other people’s privacy. As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately.”

Naga Chaitanya also broke his silence, calling the allegations “ridiculous.” He clarified that the decision to divorce Samantha was a mutual and deeply personal one, made after much consideration. “The decision of divorce is easily one of the most painful and unfortunate life decisions one has to make. After a lot of thought, a mutual decision was made by me and my former spouse to part ways,” Chaitanya said, shutting down the unfounded rumors.
This controversy has further highlighted the dangers of dragging personal matters into public and political discourse, as the Akkineni family and Samantha continue to defend their privacy amidst the turmoil.
