While the exact sale date and pricing remain undisclosed, the 60-minute showcase will offer a detailed preview of the new system. The good news is that Nintendo has confirmed the Switch 2 will officially launch in 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2: Runaway Hit?
The Switch 2’s launch is expected to have a major impact on the gaming industry. Research firm Newzoo predicts that fueled by major releases like Take-Two Interactive’s Grand Theft Auto VI and Nintendo’s next-gen hardware, the video game console market will continue to see strong growth through at least 2027.
Nintendo Switch 2: What To Expect
A January preview offered a glimpse of the Nintendo Switch 2’s design and potential features. Unlike the original’s colorful Joy-Con controllers, its successor appears to have a sleek, predominantly black portable design. Reports suggest a new magnetic attachment system for the Joy-Cons, replacing the traditional sliding rails.
The teaser also hinted at the inclusion of two USB-C ports, an improved docking system, and a built-in kickstand for enhanced usability in both handheld and docked modes. Additionally, rumours suggest a Joy-Con mouse control feature, which could improve accessibility and gameplay precision.
One of the most anticipated aspects of the Switch 2 is its backward compatibility with existing Switch games, both physical and digital. However, Nintendo has cautioned that not all titles will run seamlessly on the new hardware.
During its March 27 Direct, Nintendo reassured fans that game development for the original Switch would continue well into 2025, ensuring a smooth transition to the new console. While the company has yet to disclose pricing details, industry estimates say the Switch 2 price could be around $399 (Rs 33,900 approx) and $499 (Rs 42,400 approx) going by the hardware upgrades and market inflation.
