Excitement surrounding Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 was at an all time high, when the filmmaker announced that Ranveer Singh will be stepping in the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan, to play the titular role in the film. Amidst all the excitement, they welcomed Kiara Advani to the team as their leading lady. As the hype around the project started dwindling down, due to it facing delays, the actress announced her first pregnancy with husband Sidharth Malhotra.
It was then reported that, owing to her pregnancy, she opted out of the film as she also had other movie commitments to fulfil. Later it was heavily reported that the makers might be keen on signing Munjya fame Sharvari for the film. However, now another report states that actress Kriti Sanon is the frontrunner to essay the role of the female lead in the film, after Kiara’s exit. She is reportedly expected to sign the dotted lines in a fortnight.

Yes you read that right! Quoting a Pinkvilla report, News18 states that Farhan and the creative team of Excel Entertainment wanted to cast an “experienced actress with a screen presence” in Don 3. The Pinkvilla source adds, “Kriti Sanon fits the bill like hand in glove. She has the aura to play Roma on screen, and is excited to sign the dotted lines soon.”
As per the entertainment portal report, Akhtar has already done a large part of location hunt for the film and plans on shooting the action sequences with an international team. Shedding more light on the film’s progress, the source added, “Don 3 will be shot largely in Europe and the locations are already closed. The script is also locked, and all that remains now is slight polishing alongside the action design. The pre-production work will go on for the next few months, and the team is aiming to take the film on floors by October/November 2025.”

Talking about the film’s franchise, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don (1987), the Farhan Akhtar directorial Don: The Chase Begins Again (2006) was loved by the audience. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, the sequel of the first movie, Don 2: The King Is Back, was released in 2011.
On the work front, Kiara Advani currently has Hrithik Roshan starrer War 2 and Yash starrer Toxic in her pipeline. On the other hand, Kriti Sanon, she has Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishq Mein, Dinesh Vijan’s Cocktail 2 in her pipeline.
