The first look of the Ramayana movie, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has excited fans with its impressive VFX and music. The film, said to be one of India’s most expensive, has a reported budget of Rs. 1600 crore!
Now, according to Filmfare, Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram in the two-part film, is the highest-paid actor, earning Rs. 75 crore per part, totaling Rs 150 crore! Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, is reportedly earning Rs. 6 crore per part, making her total Rs. 12 crore.
Yash, who stars as Ravana, is also a co-producer alongside Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios. A source close to Malhotra told Bollywood Hungama, “While Ramayana 1 is being made on a budget of Rs 900 crore, the second part of Ramayana has a cost of Rs 700 crore.
The reason for the reduction in budget for part two is a result of a large investment in asset and world creation for part one, leaving just the action sequences for the second instalment. The characters built and designed alongside the set pieces will continue to be a part of the second instalment.” The source added that the team is confident about recovering the investment and making profits by targeting a global audience with stunning visuals.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, the 8-time Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is being shot for IMAX and will release worldwide, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
