Xiaomi has launched the Redmi A5 Android phone in India, expanding its line up of affordable smartphones. The new Redmi phone only support 4G networks unlike the previous Redmi A4 model that was introduced earlier this year in the country. You do get a high refresh rate display, a premium design and dual rear cameras.

Redmi A5 price in India is Rs 6,499 for the 3GB + 64GB variant, going up to Rs 7,499 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage model. Redmi A5 is available in India starting from April 16 across online and offline channels.

Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch HD+ display that has a 120Hz refresh rate screen with a touch sampling rate of 240Hz which should make it fluid to use. Redmi is also offering Triple TÜV Rheinland certification which protects the display, and has a maximum brightness of 600 nits. The phone is also IP52-rated which makes it splash resistant.
The device is powered by a Unisoc T7250 chipset with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage that is further expandable up to 2TB using the microSD card slot. Redmi is offering the new budget phone with Android 15 version out of the box and also promises 2 OS upgrades along with four years of security patches to keep it safe and reliable for a few years.
The company is giving a 32MP dual AI rear camera system on the Redmi A5 and an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls as well. The device has a bottom-firing speaker along with headphone jack and a fingerprint scanner on the power button for security. The phone comes packing a 5,200mAh battery that supports 15W charging speed.
