While mainly mysteries and thriller K Dramas took the leading spots in 2023, the industry is getting ready for a romance overload in 2024. Some of the most talked about Korean dramas worldwide included streaming releases like Bloodhounds, The Glory, Strong Girl Nam-soon, The Worst of Evil and more. While many romance dramas released like See You In My 19th Life and King The Land, none have taken the industry by storm. However, with the strong line up for 2024 things are looking up for the genre.
2023 has been such a great year for Korean Dramas.

From Queen of Tears to Love Song for Illusion, many of the love stories are helmed by directors and writers who are known for giving some of the best melos to the industry. Meanwhile, the casting for these shows also have interesting pairings that are sure to tug at your heartstrings in 2024.
While Doctor Slump is a romantic comedy, Everything Will Come True is an outright romance and Marry My Husband is adapted from webtoons. One of the biggest anticipated shows is Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won-starrer Queen of Tears. On the other hand, After Uncontrollably Fond‘s hit release in 2016, Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy are also returning for Everything Will Come True. Love Song for Illusion
Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, Love Song for Illusion is a historical fantasy drama following a young woman on a quest for revenge after witnessing the massacre of her family by the royal government as a child. However, after infiltrating the palace to kill the king, she ends up losing her memory only to become a concubine of the crown prince. As the pair begin to fall passionately in love, Yeon Wol’s painful past returns to haunt them.
Led by Park Ji-hoon, Hong Ye-ji, Hwang Hee and Ji Woo, the show of 16 episodes is directed by Lee Jung-seop and written by Yoon Kyung-ah. At the moment, the show is set to air on KBS, but the global streaming platform hasn’t been announced.

Marry My Husband
Directed by Park Won-gook, the show is led by Park Min-young, Na In-woo, Lee Yi-kyung, Song Ha-yoon. Based on 2021 webcomic Nae Nampyeongwa Gyeolhonhaejweo by Korean artist Seong So-jak, the show Marry by Husband follows a girl transported back to her past. With a second chance to exact revenge from her murder husband, she seeks the help of her boss to bring him down, but they both end up developing feelings for each other.
Everything Will Come True
Led by Bae Suzy, Kim Woo-bin, this 12-part episode follows a Genie trapped inside a lamp who desperately wishes to be around people. However, he is freed by a cold-hearted woman only for her wishes to be granted. But What happens when the overly sensitive Genie ends up falling for her.
Doctor Slump
If drama and historic fiction isn’t for you, this comedy drama may be right up your alley. Led by Led by Park Hyung-Sik and Park Shin-hye, the show follows a genius doctor who isn’t happy with her life and a domestic surgeon who is going through the lowest point in his career. After being academic rivals, they end up meeting each other at the lowest point of their lives. As they comfort each other, a romantic relationship blossoms between them.

Queen of Tears
The show follows an heiress of a Business empire married to a senior officer of the group. When the company starts to suffer, the two have to weather many storms to keep their marriage intact. The show is led by Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won, Park Sung-hoon and Kwak Dong-yeon. Directed by Kim Hee-won and Jang Young-woo, Queen of Tears is expected to be an exciting romantic drama.
