Bollywood film fanatics were left disappointed after watching Salman Khan’s latest release Sikandar. The AR Murugadoss starrer received a good reception from the fans and the audiences, when the trailer and the songs of the films were released. However, the movie failed to impress them. Due to his poor and declining performance at the box office, theatre owners across Mumbai are reportedly replacing its shows with other films.
According to a report by the Free Press Journal, multiple shows of Sikandar pulled down from several theatres across Mumbai after the weekend and replaced with more shows of Empuraan, The Diplomat, and a few Gujarati films, due to their demand. Media reports suggest that the evening and night shows of Sikandar have been replaced by the Gujarati film, Umbarro at Kandivali’s INOX, Raghuleela Mall. The 9:30 pm show of Sikandar on April 1 at the theatre was also cancelled and replaced by The Best Pandya, another Gujarati film. The report adds that the theatre took the decision as playing the Gujarati movies was more profitable than screening Sikandar.

The 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm shows of Sikandar, at the Cinepolis Seawoods and PVR, Orion Mall, have been replaced with Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film, L2: Empuraan. It is to be noted that despite being caught up in controversies, the movie is still getting more viewers than the Rashmika Mandanna co-starrer. On the other hand, Sikandar’s 8:00 pm show at INOX Nariman Point and the 8:30 pm show at the iconic Metro INOX theatre are replaced with John Abraham starrer The Diplomat.
Over the course of the past year, many films have met a similar fate like Salman Khan’s Sikandar, where they failed to impress the audiences despite creating a much-needed hype around the projects. These films include Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam, Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas, among others.

The AR Murugadoss directorial was one of the most anticipated films of Bollywood in 2025. Media reports suggest that it was extensively shot in Hyderabad and Mumbai, with a budget of Rs 200 crores. Released on March 30, 2025, Sikandar stars Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj among many others in pivotal roles.
Despite being one of the most anticipated projects of the year, Sikandar failed to meet the audience’s expectations. In the last 4-5 days, the film has managed to collect Rs 74.50 crore. It will be interesting to see how early the film’s fate will be decided at the box office.
