Sequels and remakes are a gamble in the film world. Some spark excitement due to the original’s popularity, while others struggle to live up to their predecessors. Then there are rare cases that outshine the first installment. For months now, whispers of a sequel to a beloved cult classic have been circulating – enter Cocktail 2, a spiritual successor to Homi Adajania’s 2012 romantic comedy Cocktail, which featured Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty in memorable roles. The latest buzz suggests Shahid Kapoor will lead the charge, joined by Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in this next chapter.
Fresh buzz about Cocktail 2 hit the internet last night. If the rumors hold true, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna are set to kick off filming for Homi Adajania’s sequel this summer—talk about exciting news! Naturally, fans will feel the absence of Deepika Padukone’s iconic Veronica, one of her most unforgettable roles. Still, the film promises a new dynamic with Shahid paired alongside Rashmika for the first time. Having already seen Shahid and Kriti’s charming chemistry in last year’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, expectations are sky-high for their reunion.

But there are many netizens who are not too happy about Rashmika’s casting in Cocktail 2. Why? Her dialogue delivery. For instance, one social media user claimed, “I’m a South Indian… I myself am tired of Rashmika and her scary eyebrows and chewy dialogue delivery,” whereas another angry netizen shared, “Rashmika? So yet another movie I’ll need subtitles for because the woman refuses to open her mouth when she’s delivering dialogues. I’m so close to quitting Bollywood movies.” Another user simply stated, “I’m sick of Rashmika yaar,” whereas another comment read, “Ew ew ew… not excited to watch this trio, Rashmika the least with her weird tongue twister accent!”
Prior to this news, Rashmika Mandanna faced trolling for her dialogue delivery in Bollywood projects like Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (2023) and Chhaava alongside Vicky Kaushal. That said, certain fans noted a slight improvement in her diction by the time Salman Khan’s Sikandar hit screens.
